Eligibility and Program Structure

You can apply for CIMA® through the following candidacy tracks:

  • Standard Pathway: It is open for applicants with Bachelor’s degree as the most recent/ last qualification or if you are in the final year of your Bachelor’s degree program from a nationally or internationally recognized/ accredited institution in accounting, finance or business.
  • Professional Pathway: It is open for applicants with a professional qualification or certification in a specialized area of finance or accounting from a professional association or a certification body featuring in the CIMA® Preferred Accounting Associations List. Candidate is also eligible for the CIMA® Professional Pathway, if they hold an MBA or a Master’s degree in finance or accounting. This pathway helps to earn CIMA® faster.

CIMA® Knowledge Specifications

CIMA® program Knowledge Specification defines the standard and content covered in the examinations, and ensure consistency of quality and coverage across thousands of exams that are delivered to candidates from around the world. Focusing equally on knowledge, understanding application, and synthesis in 20 knowledge areas, CIMA® has three knowledge Specification levels - BASIC, INTERMEDIATE & ADVANCED for each knowledge area combine six knowledge dimensions to define the nature and degree of competence CIMA® candidates must ideally possess to be able to successfully pass the CIMA® exams and demonstrate their readiness to perform efficiently and effectively at the highest levels in the most complex of roles as investment & management accountants.

Level Specification Methodology

The three levels of coverage can be defined as follows:

  • BASIC: Requiring the skill levels of knowledge and comprehension.
  • INTERMEDIATE: Requiring the skill levels of knowledge, comprehension, application, and analysis.
  • ADVANCED: Requiring all six skill levels of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
